High School Tennis


Falk wins third straight District

        Audra Falk of Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy won the Division II District tennis title for the third straight year with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Erin Kirkland of Kettering Alter on Saturday.

        In Division I, defending state champion Michelle DaCosta of Dayton Wayne won the district title, beating Grace Kammerer of Seton in the semifinals and Tiffani Foster of Chaminade-Julienne.

        DaCosta, Kammerer, Foster and Ashley Rothfuss of Anderson all qualified for the state meet next week in Columbus. Rothfuss won the third place match 6-2, 6-1 over Kammerer.

        In Division I doubles, Sycamore's team of Cassie Uhl and Kirsi Hakkinen won the championship over Courtney McDowell and Diane Jacobs of Centerville.

        Brianne Petricone and Andrea Kelley of Ursuline finished third with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Heather Rogers and Ashley Jones of Lako ta West. All four teams advance to state next week.

        In Division II, CHCA's Alex Gross finished fifth with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Audra Beckett of Edgewood.

        In Division II doubles, Badin's team of Nancy and Kylee Wiegand defeated Jenna Tysoe and Ashley Baker of Cincinnati Country Day in the finals. The Badin girls upset Jennifer Dektas and Laura Leutzinger of CHCA 4-6, 7-5, 6-2 in the semifinals.

        Detkas and Leutzinger took third place by defeating Shaden Dowiatt and Lindsay Hanto, also of CHCA, 6-4, 6-2.

        Semifinals: Uhl—Hakkinen (Sycamore) d. Petricone-Kelley (Ursuline) 6-4, 6-4; McDowell-Jacobs (Centerville) d. Rogers-Jones (Lakota West) 6-2, 6-2. Finals: Syca more d. Centerville 6-4, 7-6. Third Place: Ursuline d. Lakota West 6-1, 6-2.

        Doubles
