Probation violator leaves work unit

By Jim Hannah
The Cincinnati Enquirer

COVINGTON — A Georgia man jailed on a probation violation for burglary was still at large late Tuesday after he walked away from the Kenton County Detention Center.

Donald Russell, 25, of Cartersville, Ga., was reported missing just before 9 a.m. Tuesday, authorities said.

Mr. Russell was part of the jail's inmate labor force and was supposed to be unloading a tractor-trailer delivering food to the jail when he was last seen, said Col. Rodney Ballard, chief deputy jailer. He said the jail has four employees and 13 inmates to prepare and serve 1,100 meals a day.

Mr. Russell's probation was revoked when he visited family near Atlanta without permission of his probation officer, Col. Ballard said.

Mr. Russell is described as a white man who is 5-foot-10 and weighs 185 pounds. He has very short brown hair and brown eyes. He was wearing a blue jail uniform at the time of his disappearence.
