There is more for local college basketball fans to be interested in Friday night than the return of Kenyon Martin to Shoemaker Center.

        The former University of Cincinnati star, the No. 1 pick overall in the 2000 NBA draft, comes back to campus with his new team, the New Jersey Nets, who face the Cleveland Cavaliers in an NBA exhibition game.

        Xavier fans also have reason to attend: Aaron Williams is on the Nets, and Michael Hawkins is — as of today — with the Cavaliers.

        Williams is playing for his seventh team. Last year, he came off the bench for the Washington Wizards. He has also played for Utah, Milwaukee, Denver, Vancouver and Seattle.

        Hawkins, a 6-foot guard who played for Charlotte last season, was waived Oct. 9 by Atlanta and signed by Cleveland a week later.

        Tickets for Friday night's game are on sale at the UC Athletic Ticket Office and through TicketMaster.
