CHCA wins 3rd straight tennis title
Ursuline falls to Upper Arlington in Division I
The Cincinnati Enquirer
The Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy girls tennis team won its third straight Division II state team tournament Sunday in Columbus.
Upper Arlington won in Division I, defeating Ursuline 3-0 for the championship. Once a team clinches by winning three matches, the remaining ones are stopped.
Our only loss this year was to Upper Arlington, which was probably a good thing for the team, CHCA coach Lynn McNally said. But I'd like to play them again today.
State singles champion Audra Falk paced the Eagles, defeating both her opponents, including state runner-up Morgan Landes of Huron (6-1, 6-1) in the semifinals.
CHCA loses three players for next year, including Falk, who will attend Vanderbilt next fall.
Our goal is to make it four in a row, CHCA junior Jen Dektas said. It will be tougher and someone must step up and take over the leadership.
The state team tournament isn't sanctioned by the Ohio High School Athletic Association and is sponsored and funded by the Ohio Tennis Coaches Association.
