FIT BITS
Ways to stay active and healthy
NUTRITION
Crunch: Popcorn can be a healthy snack for people watching their weight as long as they watch the fat content and portion size, say the experts at the American Institute for Cancer Research.
The institute's advice: Pick the brand with the lowest fat content that tastes good to you ideally, your choice should have no more than 3 grams of fat per three- to four-cup serving. Use a measuring cup to control portion size and watch the sodium content.
If you really want to watch your consumption, consider air-popping or the old-fashioned stovetop method instead of microwaveable popcorn.
For more information on healthy recipes and nutrition tips, check the institute's Web site, (www.aicr.org).
