Get to It

A guide to help make your day

What's in stores today
Scared? Hungry? Yet another semi-practical offering from Kurt S. Adler, designer and supplier of holiday froufrou: a 17-inch, hand-crafted wood Wizard of Oz scarecrow nutcracker. $275. Available at Cappel's for $240. Check it out at www.kurtadler.com or call (800) 243-9627.

Planning Ahead
24 hours out: French, German and Spanish songs get the royal treatment from Metropolitan Opera bass baritone Dean Elzinga when he headlines Matinee Musicale. 11 a.m. Tuesday, Scottish Rite Auditorium, 317 E. Fifth St., downtown. $15. 961-0622.

48 hours out: It's a night of tumbling, twisting and turning when Olympic gold medalists Alexei Nemov and Svetlana Khorkina along with most of the U.S.' Olympic team somersault into town.
