Mercy beat McAuley 1-0 for its first regional soccer title in school history.

        Wendy Gamble scored on a pass from Angie Scarlato, who took a pass from Katie Lowstuter.

        “Earlier in the season we weren't prepared to play with them.” Mercy coach Mike Roth said of McAuley. “Right now, the girls believe in themselves and are playing very well.”

        Mercy will play Columbus DeSales in the state semifinals on Wednesday at West Carrollton.
