Boehner wins sixth term

        John Boehner easily won his sixth term as representative of the 8th Congressional District.

        The congressman from West Chester was opposed by two Oxford residents, Democrat John G. Parks and Libertarian David Shock.

        Mr. Boehner received 73 percent to Mr. Parks' 25 percent and Mr. Shock's 3 percent.

        Mr. Boehner had said if he's re-elected, he would continue working on issues such as the expansion of health care insurance.

        “Everything will have to be done in a bipartisan way if we're to be successful,” he said.

        Mr. Parks, an English professor, has taught at Miami University for 28 years and had never run for public office.

        Mr. Boehner raised more than $900,000 for his cam paign, while Mr. Parks raised about $20,000.

        The 8th District includes all or parts of Butler, Preble, Darke, Mercer, Miami, Shelby, Montgomery and Auglaize counties.
