Democrat Steve Driehaus of Price Hill replaced departing Democratic incumbent Jerome Luebbers in the Ohio House of Representative's 33rd District Tuesday.
Mr. Luebbers of Delhi Township had served the primarily Republican district that covers southwestern Cincinnati and Hamilton County for 11 terms.
With all 1,025 districts reporting, Mr. Driehaus beat West Price Hill Republican Tony Condia 55 percent to 42 percent, with Libertarian Patrick Quealy taking 2 percent.
We've been out there knocking on doors since April, and I think that the people sent a message that you can't turn a race with negative ads, Mr. Driehaus said.
