Edmondson, Bohman join Covington Commission
By Cindy Schroeder
The Cincinnati Enquirer
COVINGTON Newcomers Alex Edmondson and Craig Bohman will join incumbents Jerry Bamberger and John J.T. Spence on the Covington City Commission this January.
Mr. Edmondson, a 25-year-old lawyer, and Mr. Bohman, 27, the former president of the Wallace Woods Neighborhood Association, placed third and fourth respectively in the race for four two-year terms on the nonpartisan City Commission. Neither has held public office before.
Placing fifth was Tony Milburn, a 39-year-old property manager and member of the Housing Authority of Covington Board. Jimmy Williams, 40, who has a background of neighborhood and civic involvement, had 18 write-in votes.
With all precincts counted, Mr. Bamberger received 66.8 percent of the vote, with Mr. Edmondson getting 64.5 percent and Mr. Spence 64.2 percent. Mr. Bohman received 63.4 percent of the vote and Mr. Milburn re ceived 60.1 percent. The write-ins for Mr. Williams were 0.1 percent of the total.
A disappointed Mr. Milburn said it was too early to talk about his future political plans.
He said he spent about $12,000 on his campaign, which included knocking on about 4,000 doors, putting up 200 signs, and sending out mailings.
Twenty-one year Commissioner Butch Callery was elected mayor Tuesday over former Mayor Bernie Moorman, and Interim Mayor Jim Eggemeier was eliminated in the mayoral primary in May, when he ran third in a four-way race.
Mr. Bamberger, 57, a nine-year commissioner, had said improving public safety in the city's neighborhoods would be his top priority, if re-elected.
