Resnick holds off challenge for bench
By Spencer Hunt
Enquirer Columbus Bureau
COLUMBUS Justice Alice Robie Resnick won her bid for a third term on the Ohio Supreme Court Tuesday night, beating an unprecedented challenge from business interests that spent millions to defeat her.
Justice Resnick, a Toledo Democrat, led Republican Cuyahoga County appellate court Judge Terrence O'Donnell with 56 percent of the vote.
It's the wisdom of the people," Justice Resnick said from her Toledo home.
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce and another business group spent at least $4 million on ads criticizing Justice Resnick.
The Ohio Democratic Party and a committee formed by the Ohio AFL-CIO, the Academy of Trial Lawyers and two teachers unions spent over $1 million on ads defending her.
