Deer invades home; no one hurt
The Cincinnati Enquirer
DEERFIELD TWP. A deer crashed through a storm door and into a house in the Yorkshire subdivision off Columbia Road on Friday.
She was kicking and butting her nose on the walls and windows trying to get out, said homeowner Jeff Turiak. She was so close I could smell her breath.
Mr. Turiak said the deer was a good-sized doe.
About 5 p.m., he said, he heard a crash when the deer broke through the front storm door, knocking out a pane of glass but not breaking it. The confused deer then tried to get out through windows in the kitchen, knocking window blinds to the floor.
Mr. Turiak and his daughter, Rachel, 11, managed to slip a dog leash around the deer's neck and drag it into the foyer.
When the deer saw the storm door again, she took off out the front door, he said.
I guess you could say we're pretty fortunate, he said. The only damage is a small hole near the front door, some scratches on the floor in the foyer, the busted blinds and some deer slobber on the windows.
No one was hurt.
Township police advised Mr. Turiak to file an insurance claim. Mr. Turiak said he has not noticed deer in the area previously.
