Going out

Cincinnati Ballet: Ladies and gentlemen, start your tutus. Then enjoy when old meets new at the Fall Festival.         Beaujolais Nouveau: Swig. slurp and gulp when Mount Adams celebrates its wine-soaked heritage with a Beaujolais Nouveau weekend. Kick off is 7:30 p.m. today with a parade from Celestial restaurant to Mount Adams Fountain on St. Gregory Street. And, of course, Beaujolais tastings all over the place. 241-9009.

"Island': Colonial life in the Caribbean, mon, is lived to the fullest in the lyrical, magical, mystical tour called Once on This Island. Musical theater students at Miami University shake up the palm trees at 8 p.m. today, 2 and 8 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday, Gates-Abegglen Theatre, Oxford. $5-$7.50. (513) 529-3200.

Staying In

TV picks: Just in time to promote the Beatles' new greatest hits CD, ABC devotes two hours to The Beatles Revolution (8 p.m., Channels 9, 2). Talking about the Fab Four are Phil Collins, Mike Love, Keith Richards, Sting and Pete Townshend, plus an eclectic group of celebrities who never knew them: Buzz Aldrin, Tim Allen, Matt Groening, Tom Hayden, Tommy Hilfiger, Ricky Martin, Mike Myers, 'N Sync and Amazon.com founder Jeff Bezos.

        • TV Critic John Kiesewetter says Sycamore High School graduate Jonah Knobler returns to the Jeopardy! college championship (7:30 p.m. today, Channel 9).

Puffing and panting: While you're thinking about second-hand smoke and your family's health in the midst of the Great American Smokeout, think about your dog, too. And your cat. Don't want them hacking like you every morning, you know? Go to the American Animal Hospital Association's www.healthypet.com for information about cancers in pets and their link to lingering cigarette smoke.

Planning Ahead

24 hours out: Pop artist Peter Max — he of the exploding colors — hosts a reception honoring his Laura Paul Gallery Millennium Series exhibit, 6-9 p.m. Saturday, Dixie Terminal Arcade, 49 E. Fourth St., downtown. 651-5885.

48 hours out: Bach is still dead — this is the 250th anniversary year — but he gets the royal treatment when CCM Chamber Choir and Philharmonia Chamber Orchestratake on the massive choral challenge of his St. Matthew Passion. 1:30 p.m. Sunday, St. Peter in Chains Cathedral, Eighth and Plum streets, downtown. $5-$10. 556-4183.

72 hours out: Cincinnati just gets funkier and funkier. Especially when George Clinton and Parliament-Funkadelic do their annual blowout at Electra. 9 p.m., 1133 Sycamore St., Over-the-Rhine. $25-$27. 562-4949.

Get To It appears daily. Send items to Get To It, Tempo, Cincinnati Enquirer, 312 Elm St., Cincinnati 45202; fax: 768-8330.
