Where to cut your own Christmas tree
By The Cincinnati Enquirer
More than 35 million American families will celebrate this holiday season with a real Christmas tree, either live or cut.
The first recorded reference to the Christmas tree dates to the 16th century, according to the National Christmas Tree Association, based in St. Louis. That was when, in Strasbourg, Germany (now part of France), families decorated fir trees with colored paper, fruits and sweets.
The retail Christmas tree lot also dates back that far. In those times, people would sell trees harvested from nearby forests.
Following is a list of places where you can cut your own Christmas tree. Included are directions to the farms, types of trees and prices, special features, hours and phone numbers. Most farms provide saws, but check the list before heading out without one. Some farms also offer already cut trees and live trees that can be planted after Christmas.
