NKU 77, California (Pa.) 65
HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. Senior guard Craig Conley scored 22 points and had six assists Saturday night as Northern Kentucky captured the John L. Griffin/Lions Club Classic title with a 77-65 win over California (Pa.) University in Regents Hall.
Conley (LaSalle) earned tournament Most Valuable Player honors as NKU improved to 5-0. He made eight of 10 shots from the field and had no turnovers in 36 minutes.
Brian Lawhon and Carl Mitchell both added 10 points for the Norse, who shot 54.7 percent from the field. NKU's Brenden Stowers (Simon Kenton) was named the tournament's best defensive player, and teammate Craig Sanders earned all-tournament honors.
Seth Martin paced California (1-1) with 16 points.
NKU is ranked No.6 in the Division II poll.
Young had 10 for the Lions (2-0), who opened the game shooting 60.9 percent from the field and blazed to a 45-24 halftime edge.
Wilmington (1-1) got 14 points from Greg Liggens.
