Co-worker has fund raiser to buy wheelchair
By Kevin Aldridge
The Cincinnati Enquirer
DEERFIELD TOWNSHIP Beverly Dilgard wants to give one of her co-workers the ride of her life Friday.
Ms. Dilgard, an employee of FACS in Deerfield Township, is organizing a fund-raiser to benefit her friend and co-worker, Christine Cole, who has multiple sclerosis. She hopes to buy an electric wheelchair and a handicap-accessible van.
We feel that Christine deserves assistance to obtain the tools she needs to keep working and to keep supporting her 13-year-old daughter, Ms. Dilgard said.
The event will be held 6-8 p.m. at Northland Ice Skating rink on Reading Road in Evendale. Admission is $5 per person or $20 per family.
Ms. Dilgard learned that Ms. Cole applied to several local agencies for assistance in obtaining a new wheelchair but was turned away.
Multiple sclerosis has robbed Ms. Cole of the ability to walk even the shortest distance unaided. Ms. Dilgard said she was inspired by Ms. Cole's courage and dogged determination not to allow her condition to keep her from coming to work every day.
Ms. Dilgard is seeking door prize donations, or items that can be raffled. For more information call: 573-8301.
