Headaches hit travelers
By Joe Wessels
The Cincinnati Enquirer
Whether they were using a car or a plane to get to their Thanksgiving destinations, holiday travelers had their share of headaches commuting through the Tristate Wednesday.
By 2 p.m. motorists clogged Tristate roadways, creating what traffic experts consider a regular day before traffic jam.

Typically, on the day before a holiday, the rush starts earlier and ends earlier. It'll probably die down quickly, said Eryk Rotondo, director of Operations for ARTIMIS, the Tristate's traffic monitoring system.
At Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport, travel glitches had some people furious.
At 5 a.m., Renee Rolader, 25, of Atlanta found out her 7:50 a.m. Delta flight to Scranton, Pa., was canceled.
Originally, she was told that the scheduled aircraft had mechanical problems. Finally, she was told the flight was canceled.
Two hours later, she found out she could board an 8:45 a.m. flight to Cincinnati. Taking that later flight had caused her to miss her connecting flight, and she sat waiting Wednesday afternoon.
Now, slated as a high priority candidate awaiting a 3:20 p.m. flight, she hoped to make it out of Cincinnati. But by 4:30 p.m., she still sat in the airport, her hopes set on boarding a 7:40 p.m. flight.

The wedding coordinator added, I can do anything as long as people are honest with me.
Such problems weren't universal.
When Al Higgins, 55, left Columbus on Wednesday morning on his way to Dallas, he wondered where the expected crowds were.
The seasoned traveler and businessman said he has millions of frequent-flier miles, and thought Wednesday was lighter than normal.
There was nobody in the parking lot, he said, sitting in the Delta terminal waiting for his connecting flight. I parked in the front row.
