Police make arrest in 23-year-old slaying
The Associated Press
DAYTON, Ohio New evidence has prompted an arrest in an unsolved, 23-year-old murder in which the victim was found dismembered in an abandoned car, a police investigator said Wednesday.
Dayton police Lt. John Barnes said evidence was found in the death of Dale Green, 22, after the case was reopened a few months ago.
Arrested was Thomas A. Capparelli, a 53-year-old retired autoworker from suburban Kettering.
Mr. Capparelli was arraigned in Montgomery County Common Pleas Court on a charge of murder and pleaded innocent. Judge Alice McCollum set his bond at $500,000.
Lt. Barnes said police have questioned another suspect, but no charges have been filed.
Sheriff's deputies checking a snow-clogged road near Troy for stranded motorists in 1977 found Mr. Green's body in the back seat of his abandoned car.
