Dozen pigs return for display, sale
By Owen Findsen
The Cincinnati Enquirer
Hundreds of pigs went to market, and only a few came home. Now a dozen pigs from the Big Pig Gig, which failed to find buyers on eBay, are back on the streets. They'll be outside the Westin Hotel until Dec. 9.
The pigs will be sold at silent auction as part of the Little Pig Gig, a sale of 250 piglets decorated by ArtWorks apprentices, Big Pig Gig artists and local schools. The Little Pig Gig is the final event in the year-long Big Pig Gig public art project.
Pig auctions on the Internet and at Music Hall sold 218 artist-designed fiberglass pigs, raising $839,000 for 140 local charities, 170 online and 64 at the live auction.
They 12 pigs in front of the Westin are Art Springs Eternal, Austin Sowers, Circlepork, Cowabunga, Hamlich Maneuver, Hermes, Messenger of the Gods, Mason Dixon Swine, Oinkitecture, Piggin' Out on Art, Piggish on America, Porkemon and Post Industrial Pig.
The Little Pig Gig will be held in the Westin Atrium, noon-7 p.m. Dec. 9, with pig viewing starting at noon and a reception at 4 p.m. Tickets to the Little Pig Gig are $15, available at the door. For information phone ArtWorks at 333-0388.
