        Junior swingman Tony Fulks scored 19 points and Purcell Marian's defense held Holy Cross to 33 percent shooting and forced 21 turnovers..

        Purcell, ranked No.2 in Divisions II-IV in The Enquirer's preseason poll, led 29-22 at halftime, then broke open the game in the third quarter.

        Josh Beiting, Holy Cross' leading returning scorer, struggled through a 4-of-14 shooting night from the field, but did manage to score 10 points, the only Indians' player to reach double figures.

        Purcell's Keith Jackson, an early signee with Xavier who was playing on the floor he'll play on in college, also struggled. Jackson made just three of 15 shots from the field and had nine points, although he did have a game-high eight rebounds.

        Senior center Brandon Reid added 10 points and seven rebounds for Purcell.
