LaSalle, a young team with only three seniors, played like veterans by committing just nine turnovers while forcing 18 in the i-wireless Invitational Hoops Classic at Cintas Center.

        Senior point guard Doug Kruthaupt had 14 points in the first half, finishing with 23, and held Colerain star Mike Ferris to 16 points on six of 17 from the field.

        “He played varsity part-time as a sophomore and all year last year, so this is not new to him,” Coach Dan Fleming said. “He's a leader and he's a guy we're going to rely on.”

        Colerain did make it interesting after trailing by 20 points in the first half. It outscored La Salle 26-22 in the second and third quarters, and consecutive offensive rebounds and putbacks cut La Salle's lead to 35-25 midway through the third quarter. But Kruthaupt hit a timely three to slow the momentum and Colerain would get no closer.

        “We were just thinking that we needed to hit a couple of baskets here and there to stop there momentum,” Kruthaupt said.
