N.Ky. girls basketball games


Schwegmann stars in return from injury

        Katie Schwegmann showed no ill effects of last March's surgery to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament.

        With recruiters from Marquette and NKU in attendance, Schwegmann had 27 points, 10 rebounds, five steals and five assists, to lead Bishop Brossart to a 67-49 victory over Newport in girls basketball Monday.

        “The Marquette people want to see if Katie is all right,” Brossart coach Ray Kues said. “She was hurt in the final game last year but tonight she showed she was all right.”

        Schwegmann was eight-of-10 from the field and 10-of-12 from the free-throw line.
