Police: Fake cop pulled car over
Tenn. man charged with kidnapping

SPRINGBORO Police are trying to determine whether a Tennessee man who allegedly posed as an officer, stopped a woman and demanded sex late Wednesday could have been doing the same thing elsewhere.
Mark R. Mixner, 37, of Knoxville was arrested and jailed early Thursday after police found a variety of disguises, emergency lights and other police-related items in a maroon Chevrolet Blazer that Mr. Mixner had rented in Florida.

At the time of his arrest, Mr. Mixner was sitting in the parking lot of a West Carrollton, Ohio, nightclub, where police said he staked out his victim.
Because of the out-of-state connections, Springboro officials said they have issued a national broadcast about the incident.
Mr. Mixner, who told Warren County jail officials he was a doctor, is being held without bond on charges of possession of criminal tools, impersonating a peace officer and kidnapping. He is scheduled to appear for arraignment in Warren County Court on Tuesday.
Tennessee has no record of him being licensed to practice medicine.
The officers investigating the case could not be reached Thursday. But police, in a prepared statement, gave this account:
The search for Mr. Mixner began around midnight Wednesday after Springboro Officer Dan Bentley noticed a Blazer with Florida tags and another car parked along Pennyroyal Road near Ohio 741.
The officer approached. A woman jumped from the Blazer and into the second car. Both vehicles sped away. Officer Bentley pursued the Blazer but lost sight of it in a subdivision.
The woman, who resides in Germantown, called police and reported that a man who identified himself as an undercover police officer working for a drunken driving task force had pulled her over in Springboro after she left Bojangle's night club in West Carrollton. She said the man showed her a badge, ordered her into his vehicle, and told her he would take her to jail unless she gave him sex. She was able to escape when Officer Bentley showed up.
Springboro police said Mr. Mixner apparently followed the woman as she left the nightclub. He was found sitting in his car in the club's parking lot after a West Carrollton officer, who recalled seeing the Blazer there earlier, checked the lot.
