Our Fearless Predictions: N.Ky. games

By Ray Schaefer
Enquirer contributor

Previews and predictions for tonight's boys basketball games:

        • Campbell County at Newport Central Catholic

WHEN/WHERE: 7:30 p.m. today, Newport Central Catholic HS, 13 Carothers Rd., Newport

WHAT TO WATCH: The story here is who NewCath is missing. Senior guard Ronny Dawn will sit out tonight and Saturday's game against Elder with a severely sprained ankle. He's not scheduled to play until next Friday at Simon Kenton.

NewCath senior center Corey Myers carried the scoring load in last Saturday's win over Bishop Brossart. He scored 15 points and grabbed 16 rebounds.

Campbell County counters with junior Kevin Reinhardt, who led the Camels with 18 points against Pendleton County on Tuesday.

        PICK: Campbell County.

        • Covington Catholic at Moeller

WHEN/WHERE: 7:30 p.m. today, Moeller HS, 9001 Montgomery Rd., Sycamore Township

WHAT TO WATCH: New CovCath coach Mike Listerman couldn't have picked a tougher opponent. The Crusaders are ranked second to Western Hills in the Enquirer's Ohio Division I poll and are expected to win the Greater Catholic League South title. Senior Matt Sylvester leads the Moeller offense.

        PICK: Moeller.

        • Other games

        Pendleton County over Bellevue

        Walton-Verona over Boone County

        Conner over Lloyd

        Newport over Dayton

        Highlands over Paintsville

        Simon Kenton over Lewis County
