Cincinnati Police Officer Mikle Brown has been reassigned to desk duty after being charged with assaulting and threatening a female officer while he was off duty a week ago, a police spokesman said.
Officer Brown, 32, was released from the Hamilton County Justice Center late Thursday on his own recognizance after his arrest earlier on misdemeanor charges of assault and aggravated menacing.
While on desk duty, Officer Brown will not be allowed to carry a gun or go on patrol.

The 8 1/2-year police veteran is accused of striking the woman officer in the lip and threatened her with a firearm, according to a police report.
The incident occurred in the 6600 block of Fair Acres Lane in Amberley Village, police said.
Officer Brown, a former undercover narcotics officer recently assigned to District 3, has received at least 21 commendations, but also has two citations for failure of good behavior, according to his police file.
One commendation was from former Cincinnati Public Schools Board President Lynwood Battle, who called him a wonderful role model for the children of today.
The reprimands for behavior involved work schedule and off-duty policing incidents.
Officer Brown was praised by fellow officers for his work with children as founder of the Young Marines of Cincinnati, as an American Red Cross instructor and as a lifeguard. He was described by supervisors as a team player and someone who has strong moral convictions.
In 1998, he was named Officer of the Year by the Cincinnati Exchange Club, a service club. Officer Brown, who joined the Marine Corps in the late '80s, has also been the lead instructor for the police division's color guard.
