N.Ky. boys basketball games




        Corey Myers hit a layup to tie the game in overtime Saturday and Vince Bonhaus hit a free throw to give Newport Central Catholic the lead for good as the Thoroughbreds beat Elder 51-48 Saturday night.

        Aaron Dawn made two free throws with 16 seconds left in overtime to clinch it for NCC.

        Elder, which trailed most of the game, tied the score at 46 with 59 seconds left in regulation.

        NewCath's Jeff Colson scored 16 points, including 10 in the second quarter, to lead both teams.

        Tim Schenke led Elder with 12 points before being ejected in the third quarter after picking up a his second technical foul.

        • Oldham County 58, Dixie Heights 48 — Oldham County made six straight free throws in the final 1:16 to hold off Dixie in the championship game of the Oldham County Coaches Classic for Cancer.

        Eric Johnson made four free throws in the final minute and finished with 15 points.

        Dixie got 21 points from Russ Bramlage.
