Mount St. Joseph hangs on for victory

The Mount St. Joseph men's basketball team led all the way and held off a late charge by Bethany for a 77-76 victory Saturday at Bethany in West Virginia.
Jared Franz (Badin) led the Mount (4-3) down the stretch. He finished with 19 points and eight rebounds. Joe Toney (Harrison) topped the Lions with 20 points.
The Mount, which committed 20 turnovers, was helped by 53 percent 3-point shooting.
Bethany (4-5) got a game-high 29 points from Keith Schubert, who shot 11-of-19 from the field.

Matt Brewer's 16 points led three players in double figures as Hanover improved to 7-0 while sending Thomas More to its sixth straight loss.
Corey Grace led TMC with 23 points and 12 rebounds, both game highs.

Lindsey Chappell scored 11 points and Shelly Holt (Seton) scored 10 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lift visiting Earlham (4-4).
Mount St. Joseph (4-4), which led 23-19 at halftime, suffered from poor shooting but was hurt most by missed foul shots in the second half. The lions made only six of 11 free throw attempts after the break while Earlham made 13 of 27.
Shauna Bemmes (Reading) led MSJ with 10 points.
