Tree falls on pregnant woman in bed
High winds wreak havoc, power lost

A tree crashed through a bedroom roof and fell on a 23-year-old pregnant woman, critically injuring her, as she lay in bed with her husband and another child in their Clermont County home late Monday.
Winds exceeding 50 mph whipped across the Tristate on Monday night and early Tuesday, ahead of a cold front that could bring measurable snowfall to the Tristate today.
Monday's winds also damaged a Hamilton paper mill, and forced the closing of Winton Woods High School in Forest Park.

Clermont County Sheriff A. J. Tim Rodenberg said Amanda Ellis, of the 2300 block of Laurel-Lindale Road in Monroe Township, was caught under the tree, which snapped and fell across her home.
Philip Gardner said he and other neighbors ran to the home after the large sycamore fell. Mrs. Ellis' husband, Joseph, was not hurt. The couple also has a young son, Mr. Gardner said.
He was in the bedroom, too right next to her in bed. The tree landed right on top of her, didn't hurt him, Mr. Gardner said.
Neighbors cut the tree with a chain saw, freed Mrs. Ellis and tried to revive her. She was taken to University Hospital, where a spokeswoman said an ultrasound and other tests show no obvious signs of harm to the fetus.
Earlier, in Hamilton, high winds blew off a large piece of sheet-metal insulation that was part of the duct work on the roof of the Champion International paper mill on North B Street.
Natalie Green, a spokeswoman for Champion, said the metal fell onto the main power line at about 10 p.m., cutting all power to the plant.
She said the mill was shut down until Cinergy could make repairs early Tuesday. All operations had resumed by midday Tuesday. There were no injuries.
