Driver lied on license, charges say
The Associated Press
OAK GROVE, Ky. A bus driver involved in a November crash that killed a 5-year-old Christian County student was arrested Friday on charges she allegedly lied to get a drivers license.
Ulima Allen, 36, of Fort Campbell, Ky., is charged with one count each of fraud of an application and operating on a suspended license, state police said in a statement. She was also charged with 15 counts of fraud by deception after police found outstanding warrants issued in Hardin County.
The arrest follows an investigation into the Nov. 30 crash in which 5-year-old Tyler Powers was killed after the bus Ms. Allen was driving overturned en route to South Christian Elementary School, state police said. More than 30 students and Ms. Allen were injured in the crash.
Ms. Allen's Louisiana drivers license had been suspended for failure to pay a speeding ticket, state police said. When Ms. Allen submitted an application to re-
instate her Kentucky drivers' license she did not divulge the suspension, police said.
In Kentucky, her license had been suspended due to an unpaid traffic citation.
All of the charges are misdemeanors. Ms. Allen was lodged in the Christian County Jail on $2,285 cash bond, a state police spokesman said Friday.
