Victim dies after explosion at home

LIBERTY TOWNSHIP — A Liberty Township man, injured in an explosion and fire at his home, died Sunday morning at University Hospital.

Steve Turpen, who lived at the Countryside mobile home park on Ohio 4, suffered third-degree burns on about 90 percent of his body after his trailer home exploded about 4 p.m. Saturday.

The cause of the explosion remains under investigation, said Liberty Township Fire Chief Paul Stumpf.

Mr. Turpen was home alone at the time of the explosion.
