School board OKs teacher contract
The Cincinnati Enquirer
FOREST PARK The Winton Woods City School District Board of Education ratified a contract Thursday night that gave the district's 300 teachers raises each of the next three years. Teachers had approved the agreement Monday.
Teachers and the district reached a tentative agreement in a 16-hour mediation session that ended at 2 a.m. Dec. 12.
The new three-year contract, retroactive to Aug. 1, 2000, and running through July 31, 2003, calls for a 4 percent salary increase this school year, and 3.5 percent increases each of the final two years.
We are very pleased, and we look forward to our working together with our association in the betterment of our education program and on behalf of our students, Superintendent Thomas Richey said Thursday.
Winton Woods teachers have gone without a contract since July 31, when a three-year contract expired. Negotiations began in May, but broke down in October.
Teachers began a slowdown Dec. 4, refusing to do any work that wasn't included in their old contract.
