What Tristaters are reading
Arlene Taylor, CEO of ABX Central:
While I Was Gone by Sue Miller (Ballantine; $12.95).
It's an excellent, well-written book about a woman who is living her life in a state that she's essentially gone. She realizes that she's disconnected, and she never quite brings it together again. I couldn't put it down.
Dr. Donald Harrison, University of Cincinnati vice president and provost for health affairs:
The Coming Anarchy: Shattering the Dream of the Post Cold War by Robert D. Kaplan (Random House; $21.95).
He writes about population growth in the third world, how it affects all of us, and that as part of the planet, we can't neglect this (issue).
The Plague by Albert Camus (McGraw-Hill; $9.75).
This is the second time in my life I'm reading this book, this time with my son, and I'm getting more out of it. It's the best of the Camus books. It's about what happens to people when their city is sealed off because of a plague.
