Speedway to open new ticket offices

FORT MITCHELL Kentucky Speedway opens its new corporate office and ticket headquarters in the Expressway Plaza on Dixie Highway on Monday, but that's only the beginning of the changes speedway chairman Jerry Carroll has in store for 2001.
Our goal is to make Kentucky Speedway the No.1 sporting attraction in the Tristate, Mr. Carroll said Friday.
We'll do everything we can to build the reputation of the speedway. We actually exceeded our expectations for the first season, but we want to continue to grow this season.
Moving the speedway offices from a small warehouselike complex off Turfway Road near Turfway Park, the thoroughbred track Mr. Carroll once owned, to about 10,000 square feet in Fort Mitchell next to a busy Kroger store will give speedway staff and officials needed room.
This is a very convenient location for most people, just off the I-75 Dixie Highway ramp, Mr. Carroll said. In addition to moving our offices from Florence and our ticket sales from the Drawbridge Inn, we'll have racing apparel available for sale.
The 1.5-mile tri-oval speedway, off Interstate 71 at Sparta about 35 miles southwest of downtown Cincinnati, has announced a stronger racing schedule for 2001, with the addition of a 200-lap NASCAR Busch Series stock-car race June 16. There also will be a 150-lap NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race July 14 and a 200-lap Indy Racing Northern Light Series race Aug. 12.
The speedway has added two United States Auto Club Midget Series races on the quarter-mile dirt track in May and August, and two Automobile Racing Club of America Re/Max Series stock-car races will return.
