David Cale: Cincinnati's hip factor bams up a notch, and it gets a brand new alternative theater series all in one night. To wit: Obie award winning playwright and monologist Mr. Cale is the hip factor with his way off center routines. Chamber players: Hear the Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra toot its own horn. Plants for sale: The holidays are over but Krohn Conservatory's plants are alive and well. They wouldn't dare die up there. TV picks: Relive the Jazz age with the debut of Ken Burns' toe-tapping 18 1/4-hour PBS documentary (9 p.m., Channels 48, 54, 16), followed by a Preservation Hall Jazz Band special (10:30 p.m., Channels 48, 16).
TV Critic John Kiesewetter has more musical notes: Britney Spears hosts the American Music Awards (8-11 p.m., Channels 9, 2), while Turner Classic Movies has restored Elvis Presley's 1970 concert film, Elvis: That's the Way It Is (8 p.m., TMC).
