Madeira gets big road win

        Rob Hern scored 13 of his 21 points in the first half Friday night, leading Madeira to a 74-66 victory over host Mariemont in a Cincinnati Hills League game.

        The win was Madeira's seventh straight and gave the Mustangs sole possession of first place in the league.

        Rob Tuke's two 3-pointers with five minutes to play sealed the win for the Mustants after Mariemont had cut their eight-point lead to one.

        Branden Fisher scored 24 points for Mariemont.

        MADEIRA (74) — Tuke 8 2 18, Tudor 2 5 10, Burch 1 0 2, Hern 8 2 21, Konieczka 6 0 16, Underwood 2 2 6. Totals: 27 11 74.

        MARIEMONT (66) — Gray 5 0 14, Denker 3 2 8, Clasen 1 3 5, Fisher 11 0 24, Landes 6 0 15. Totals: 26 5 66.

        • Reading 62, Finneytown 60 — Frank Edwards made a 3-pointer with 38 seconds remaining to lift Reading to a 62-60 victory over Finneytown.

        Finneytown missed an 8-foot jumper, which would have tied the game, with eight seconds to play.

        The Blue Devils scored the first 16 points of the second half and erased a 19-point halftime deficit by outscoring the Wildcats 22-5 in the third quarter.

        Kenneth Brady led Reading with 19 points and Derek Aden added 16. Cory Davis scored 19 for Finneytown.

        • Taylor 56, Deer Park 45 — Senior forward Tim Kroeger set career highs with 24 points and 13 rebounds to lead Taylor.

        Cory Burke led Deer Park with 17 points.

        • Wyoming 52, Indian Hill 50 (OT) — Sophomore Matt Bruck sank two free throws with 54 seconds remaining in overtime to lift the Cowboys in a Cincinnati Hills League matchup.

        Indian Hill missed shots at the end of regulation and overtime that would have won the game.

        John Gale scored 16 points and Jeff Davis had 13 for Wyoming.
