Queen City Conference games


Winton Woods unbeaten after 10 games

        Senior center P.J. Mills and junior guard Robert Hite led Winton Woods to its 10th straight win, a 64-54 home victory over Harrison.

        Mills scored 16 points and pulled down 10 rebounds; Hite scored 17 and had eight boards.

        Winton Woods (10-0) put itself in position to possibly take over the top spot in the Enquirer's Division I coaches poll. The Warriors entered the night tied for No.2, but top-ranked St.Xavier was upset by Elder.

        HARRISON (54) — Volkering 8 2 24, Brech 1 0 2, Willis 2 4 8, Ruther 3 1 8, Lucky 5 0 10, McDonald 1 0 2. Totals: 20 7 54.

        WINTON WOODS (64) — Anderson 4 5 13, Fields 1 1 3, Riley 6 2 15, Hite 8 1 17, Mills 7 2 16. Totals: 26 11 64.

        • Western Hills 87, Taft 55 — Danny Horace led QCC-leading West Hi with 21 points while Darryl Peterson added 17.

        Norell Williams had 13 points for Taft.

        • Withrow 58, Hughes 57 — Chris Washington hit both ends of a one-and-one with 20 seconds left to give Withrow the lead.

        Hughes' last shot with two seconds remaining was blocked by Pierre Darben, sealing the visitors' win in front of a sold-out crowd.

        B.J. Walker added eight of his 21 points in the fourth quarter for the Bulldogs. Troy Smith paced Taft with 25 points and 11 rebounds.
