Taylor upsets 8th-ranked CHCA

        Alex Thinnes sank a free throw with 40 seconds remaining, giving Taylor a 50-49 victory over previously undefeated Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy at Taylor.

        CHCA, ranked No.8 in the Enquirer's poll, had gone into a stall in the fourth quarter with 4:30 remaining and holding a two-point lead. But the Eagles turned over the ball and the Yellowjackets capitalized to tie the game 47-47.

        Tim Kroeger then sank two Taylor free throws before Thinnes went on to provide the clincher.

        • Sycamore 48, Walnut Hills 39 — Sycamore converted nine of 14 free throws in the fourth quarter with Mike Hull hitting six of eight to lead the Aviators.

        • Georgetown 59, Summit Country Day 57 — Craig Waits sank a 10-foot jump shot with three seconds remaining, giving the G-Men the victory.

        Waits scored 22 points while teammate Ryan Seesholtz added 18 points.

        But game-high scoring honors went to Summit junior center Nick Dyer, who had 29 points.

        • St.Xavier 60, West Sidney Blues 46 — Jordan Cornette and Matt Grogan each scored eight points in the fourth quarter to help St.Xavier hold off the Australian team.

        Cornette finished with 17 points, and Grogan added 13.

        Casey Moreillon added 13 points for the Tigers. Jeff Ampt led all scorers with 20 points for South Dearborn.

        • Western Brown 57, Lynchburg Clay 47 — Senior guard Dustin Hutson led three Broncos players in double figures in their non-league win.

        Hutson scored nine of Western Brown's 15 points in the fourth quarter on a 3-pointer and six made free throws in eight tries.

        Senior Rob Preston scored 14 points to lead Lynchburg Clay.

        Brandon Lanham led all scorers with 17 points for Calvary.

        Landmark's Mick Shannon had a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.

        • Waynesville 61, Blanchester 50 — Scott Sessler, a 5-foot-2 senior guard, scored a season-high 27 points, including five 3-pointers, to space the Spartans.

        Waynesville broke open the game in the third quarter with a 19-9 run during which Sessler scored eight points.

        Felicity junior forward Clay Moran scored 21 points, and three Deer Park players — Justin Dennis, Cory Burke and Brandon Hickey — all scored more than 20 points.
