Crash kills Owenton teen

Girl's mother hospitalized

The Cincinnati Enquirer

OWENTON, Ky. — A 16-year-old local girl was killed and her mother injured in a two-vehicle crash about 11:30 a.m. Monday in Owen County.

The accident happened on U.S. 127 at the junction of Jonesville Road, about 3 miles north of Owenton, according to the Kentucky State Police.

Sara Greene, 16, was killed, and her mother, Melinda Greene, 43, was injured when their SUV was struck broadside by a truck driven by William G. Dickhaus, 74, of Jonesville.

Police said Mr. Dickhaus apparently ran a stop sign while turning onto U.S. 127 from Jonesville.

Melinda Greene was listed in stable condition at the University of Kentucky Medical Center Monday night.

Mr. Dickhaus was released from Owen County Memorial Hospital.

        The accident remains under investigation.
