Get to It

A guide to help make your day

Going out

Lazer Vaudeville: It's red-hot family fun when these zany acrobats mix juggling and magic with neon, black light illusion and tricks. Like luminescent rope spinning, if you can picture it. Appropriate for all ages. 3 p.m today, Springer Auditorium, Music Hall. $8-$12. 241-7469.

Flemish architecture: The Cincinnati Preservation Association, always happy to beef up interest in world-class architecture, hosts historian and travel expert Gail Cornell for an afternoon of slides and chat about “Gothic Architecture in Northern Belgium.” 2-4 p.m. today, Carnegie Center of Columbia Tusculum, 3738 Eastern Ave. $5, CPA members free. 721-4506.

Afternoon jazz: Fresh from a weekend gig at the Blue Wisp Jazz Club, Chicago trombonist Paul McKee does a turn for the Greater Cincinnati Jazz Society's Sunday afternoon concert series. Backed by the ever-steady, ever— ready Phil DeGreg Trio, music begins 3 p.m. today, First Unitarian Church, Reading Road and Linton Street, Avondale. $10. 729-4183.

Last chance: Last call for all the fantasy watercraft, exotic travel opportunities, hunting and fishing gear, golf equipment and more at the Hart Productions annual blowout. Cincinnati Hunting and Fishing Show, Travel, Sport & Boat Show and Vacation Travel Show end today;11 a.m.-5 p.m., Albert B. Sabin Convention Center. $8, $2.50 children. 281-0022.

Staying In

TV picks: If, unlike the rest of the world, you watch the Golden Globe Awards to see who wins instead of what the stars are wearing, the category to watch is best movie. Several nominees — Gladiator, Erin Brockovich, Billy Elliott, Traffic, Sunshine, Wonder Boys — make the competition hot. TV comedy nominees should be a hot and heavy category too: Frasier, Malcolm in the Middle, Will & Grace, Ally McBeal and Sex and the City. (8-11 p.m., Channels 5, 22).

        • The Wonderful World of Disney people made a smart move by bringing back a true classic — Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. Gene Wilder stars as the candy maker in a musical that has lots of clever touches. (7 p.m., Channels 9, 2).

Planning Ahead

24 hours out: Happy news here for fans of the alt-rock band Days of the New: The band's latest incarnation, Tantric,, all full of former members of the group, is headed to town. 9 p.m. Monday, Top Cat's, 2820 Vine St., Corryville. $5. 562-4949.

48 hours out: Herewith a mix 'n' mingle with a cultural touch: Friends Night Out with Ensemble Theatre is a preshow happy hour at BarrelHouse Brewing Company followed by a Tuesday Night performance of Three Days of Rain. Happy hour 5:30 p.m. with all-you-can-eat buffet, performance at 8 p.m., ETC, 1127 Vine St., Over-the-Rhine. $17. 421-3555.
