TAMPA, Fla. — At the 1989 Super Bowl, Bengals offensive coordinator Bruce Coslet was the “hot” candidate for several NFL head coaching jobs. This season, it's Ravens defensive coordinator Marvin Lewis, whose unit gave up just 165 points this season, an NFL 16-game record.

Lewis is considered to be the leading candidate to replace Wade Phillips as head coach in Buffalo and also has been rumored to replace Chris Palmer in Cleveland.

Before the Ravens left for Tampa, Lewis and Baltimore coach Brian Billick discussed the possibility of Lewis leaving.

“I told Brian there's obviously a lot of speculation,” Lewis said Wednesday. “But if it's not right, I have a great job. I love the guy I work for. And that's what I would do. I would stay put.”

Being a head coach “is not an obsession,” Lewis said.

A “right” situation would be an organization like the Ravens. A wrong situation could involve “management, the commitment, the length of contract, my input, what my family thinks is impor tant,” Lewis said.

As for Coslet, a year after the Bengals' Super Bowl visit, he was hired as New York Jets head coach.

MORE RAY: Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis has guaranteed a victory Sunday over the Giants.

“Why say we're not. I'm not here to lose,” Lewis said Wednesday, a day after he refused to answer questions about his involvement in an incident that left two men dead in Atlanta on Super Bowl night a year ago.

He also was asked Wednesday who the greatest linebacker is in NFL history.

“Me,” he said. “That's not hard.”

INJURY REPORT: New York: Fullback Greg Comella (buttocks), cornerback Reggie Stephens (foot), wide receiver Amani Toomer (ankle/knee) and safety Shaun Williams (hamstring) are probable.

Baltimore: Linebacker Peter Boulware (shoulder), linebacker Cornell Brown (thigh), wide receiver Billy Davis (knee) and safety Kim Herring (ankle) are probable.
