Brossart, NewCath ousted in boys All 'A'

Shawn Newsome scored 27 points as Allen Central held on to beat Bishop Brossart 48-46 in the first round of the Touchstone Energy All A Classic at Eastern Kentucky University's McBrayer Arena Thursday night.
Brossart, which trailed 29-19 at halftime, outscored Allen Central 15-8 in the third quarter to pull within three points at 37-34.
Chris Ryan scored 18 points, including 15 on five 3-pointers, for the Mustangs. Mike Eten came off the bench to add 13 points and make nine of his 13 free throws for Brossart.
Nick Ziegler scored 10 points for Bishop Brossart.
Allen Central will play Glasgow, which beat Newport Central Catholic 63-52, at 2:30 p.m. Saturday.

Glasgow 63, Newport Central Catholic 52, first round of the state All A Classic at Eastern Kentucky University Glasgow point guard Brandon Stockton, the state's leading scorer (30.2 ppg), made it a short stay for Newport Central Catholic in the Touchstone Energy All A Classic.
Stockton scored 22 points for the Scotties, the Fourth Region champs.
Corey Meyers led the Thoroughbreds (16-4) with 19 points and 11 rebounds.
NewCath had hope when it cut a 13-point fourth-quarter deficit to four points at 54-50. But the 'Breds couldn't complete the comeback.
Ronny Dawn added 16 points for NewCath, but they came on 7-of-24 field goal shooting.
