Cincinnati boys basketball games


Late layup helps Middletown upset No. 8 Hamilton

        Mark Robinson scored on a layup off a pass from Kevin Helvey with seven seconds remaining, giving Middletown a 55-53 upset over Hamilton at the Wade E. Miller Gym in Middletown Saturday night.

        Hamilton is ranked No.8 in The Enquirer's Division I coaches poll. The loss drops the Big Blue out of a first-place tie with Oak Hills in the Greater Miami Conference.

        Helvey sank three free throws with 25 seconds left to give the Middies a 53-51 lead. But Josh Andrews countered with two free throws for the Big Blue to tie the game.

        Helvey took the inbounds pass and passed to Robinson, who was breaking down the court.
