CG&E wants bigger pipeline
Gas service nears capacity in Butler, Warren
By Mike Boyer
The Cincinnati Enquirer
Cincinnati Gas & Electric Co. will hold a public meeting Feb. 13 to outline proposals to significantly expand its gas pipeline serving fast- growing Butler and Warren counties.
The utility is considering two routes for extending a 24-inch gas line from the existing Texas Gas Transmission pipeline east of Monroe to Fields Ertel Road near Butler-Warren County Line Road.
One route of 12.5 miles would basically follow Butler-Warren County Line Road south. The second path would parallel that same route but farther east.
Without the new pipeline, the utility says its service to the area 16- to 20-inch lines in Butler County and 4- to 8-inch lines in Warren County is expected to reach capacity in five years.
CG&E planners and engineers will be at the Liberty Township Hall, 6400 Prince ton Road, from 6-8 p.m. to answer questions and accept comments.
The utility plans to submit plans to the Ohio Power Siting Board next month and hopes to have the pipeline completed by late 2002.
