What Tristaters are reading
Norma Holt Davis, President, Cincinnati branch of the NAACP:
Ella Baker: Freedom Bound by Joanne Grant (John Wiley & Sons Inc; $16.95).
The biography is about one of the heroines of the civil rights movement and chronicles a lifetime of civil rights work. It's very well done and written by a woman whom she mentored.
Failing Forward by John C. Maxwell (Thomas Nelson Inc; $19.99).
A great book. The thesis is that all of us fail, but the successful people keep moving and turn their mistakes into stepping stones.
Linda Menz, Board member, Dayton Opera:
Truth at Any Cost: Ken Starr and the Unmasking of Bill Clinton by Susan Schmidt and Michael Weisskopf (HarperCollins; $26).
Written by (Washington Post reporter) Susan Schmidt and (Time magazine's) Michael Weisskopf, it's highly detailed. I highly recommend it for anyone who is a political junkie like me.
Maxine Berkman
A dance of love
My, my, some rock 'n' roll should die
KNIPPENBERG: Operation Smile saves many faces
KIESEWETTER: Odyssey ends in Butler County
