Commandment group buys TV time
The Associated Press
HAZARD, Ky. Supporters of posting the Ten Commandments in public buildings were to advocate their position Tuesday night in a paid television program.
The 30-minute program, Standing for Family, Faith and Freedom, cost $1,500 and was scheduled to be shown on WYMT-TV in Hazard, said the Rev. Herschel Walker, pastor of Hopewell Baptist Church in Corbin.
Panelists, including the Rev. Mr. Walker, state Sen. Albert Robinson, R-London, and McCreary Judge-executive Jimmie Greene, will discuss the historical relevance of the Ten Commandments, the pastor said.
They also will ask the TV audience to contribute to the Ten Commandments Advancement Fund in Corbin, which will be used for defense of a lawsuit the American Civil Liberties Union filed against the Harlan County school board and fiscal courts in Pulaski and McCreary counties.
