'Kentucky Joe' survives another week

Rodger Bingham of Crittenden, Ky., survives for another week on CBS' Survivor: The Australian Outback, despite falling twice and nearly costing his Kucha tribe immunity.

The rival Ogakor tribe, however, lost the obstacle course “immunity challenge” when Maralyn “Mad Dog” Hershey, 52, fell in the final minute. She was then voted out of the game at the end of the show.

The dismissal of Ms. Hershey, a retired Washington, D.C., police officer, means that Mr. Bingham, 53, is the oldest Survivor by far. The Grant County High School teacher, nicknamed “Kentucky Joe” by fellow castaways, is 13 years older than Tina Wesson, 40, of the Ogakor tribe, and 15 years older than Michael Skupin, 38, in his Kucha tribe.

The last Survivor, and winner of the $1-million prize, will be revealed in the final episode on April 26.
