Horse farm's concrete icon missing

The Associated Press

LEXINGTON — One of two concrete eagles that welcome guests to Spendthrift Farm, former home of Triple Crown winners Affirmed and Seattle Slew, is missing.

Bruce Kline, one of the farm's owners, said the statue and one of the farm's concrete nameplates were taken this week. Mr. Kline said the theft likely happened Tuesday.

The bird and nameplate had been sitting on the ground behind the pillar while it was being repaired, Mr. Kline said.

Mr. Kline is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the return of the statue and nameplate.
