Montgomery Inn opening in Ft. Mitchell
By Terry Flynn
The Cincinnati Enquirer
The Gregory family plans to open a Montgomery Inn restaurant in Fort Mitchell this spring in a building owned by developer Jerry Carroll, chairman and co-owner of Kentucky Speedway.
So it's no surprise that the Montgomery Inn owners Ribs King Ted Gregory and his son, Dean also worked with Mr. Carroll to create the Kentucky Speedway Room at the Montgomery Inn Boathouse to highlight the speedway and stock-car racing.
The room, which opened Friday, is decorated with Kentucky Speedway memorabilia, including pictures of winning drivers, driving suits, flags and banners, and photos documenting the development of the 1.5-mile tri-oval speedway on farm land in Gallatin County just off I-71.
This will expose a lot of people to the speedway who haven't been out to the track, Mr. Carroll said. We know how busy the restaurant is and this is a way to touch a great many people with the flavor of auto racing.
Dean Gregory said the room will be used primarily for small private parties. Jerry (Carroll) said he wanted to sponsor the room and we have decided to give out tickets to Kentucky Speedway events as prizes when charitable groups meet here, he said.
The walls of the Montgomery Inn Boathouse already are already filled with sports memorabilia.
Mr. Gregory said he hopes to open the new Montgomery Inn, in the building on Buttermilk Pike near the Drawbridge Inn that former ly housed Burbank's, by March 19.
We'll seat 180 guests, and we've already had tremendous response to the new restaurant, he said.
Kentucky Speedway, preparing for its second season of stock-car and Indy-car racing, features four race weekends and a total of 11 races, highlighted by a NASCAR Busch Series race June 16.
