No. 3 NewCath tops No. 5 Holmes

Forward Erica Ziegler scored 25 points and center Heather Maudlin added a career-high 21 as Newport Central Catholic, ranked No.3 in the Enquirer's Northern Kentucky coaches poll, beat No.5 Holmes 72-61 Tuesday night.
Maudlin, a sophomore, scored 10 points in the second quarter and 14 in the first half. She also had 10 rebounds for her first career double-double.
Ziegler, a senior, added 13 rebounds for the Thoroughbreds.
Maudlin finished with a career-high 21 points. She also had 10 rebounds for her first career double-double.
Erica Hallman led the Bulldogs with 16 points.

Fleming County 60, Campbell County 45 Sarah Gooding scored 11 of her game-high 18 points in the third quarter, including three consecutive 3-pointers, as Fleming County took control after leading 22-20 at halftime.
Becka Davis added 13 points for Fleming County, including seven in the fourth quarter.
Senior forward Heather Walker scored 11 points and sophomore guard Stacey Barry added 10 for the Camels.
Fleming shot 59 percent (13-of-22) from the field in the second half.
