GTE Wireless makes call offer
GTE Wireless has introduced unlimited local calling in its Greater Cincinnati-Dayton service area.
The company is offering the unlimited local calling for $39 a month. For an additional $10 a month, customers receive features including voice mail and caller ID.
GTE Wireless said it is making the offer to the first 10,000 customers who sign up by April 15.
Kroger sued in man's death
Cincinnati's Kroger Co. is one of the defendants in a $750 million lawsuit filed by the family of a Detroit man.
Travis Shelton, 38, died last week after being apprehended by security guards and accused of shoplifting at a Kroger store. A medical examiner ruled the case a homicide this week, according to Bloomberg Business News.
The guards were employed by a private security firm. Kroger officials would not comment on the lawsuit and said they were cooperating with the investigation.
P&G agrees to invest in Packtion
Procter & Gamble and chemical company DuPont have agreed to invest in an online packaging services provider to strengthen their packaging supply chains.
Chicago-based Packtion said it will receive cash and certain intellectual property from DuPont and P&G, which will allow Packtion to trim packaging costs and time to get products into the market by 10 percent to 50 percent.
P&G donates tool patent
Continuing its multi-billion-dollar patent giveaways, Procter & Gamble this week donated the patent and accompanying intellectual property for a tool associated with plant emissions to the Midwest Research Institute.
With the exclusive rights, the institute will benefit from all future revenues from licensing the technology. The donation was P&G's first to a nonprofit agency other than a school.
